Frame building is part of the building which is the main structure supporting the weight of the building and external loads acting on it. Building framework for simple or multi-storey buildings are low, generally in the form of a portal frame structure (frame structure). This structure in the form of a framework consisting of columns and beams is a series that became a strong unity.

Column portal should be made continuously from the bottom floor to the top floor, which means that the location of the columns portal should not be shifted on each floor, as this will eliminate the stiffness characteristics of the structure of the portal frame. So it should be avoided sketch portal columns are not the same for each layer floor. Increasing the size of the column may be smaller or older. Changes in column dimensions must be made on plywood floor on one lane so that the column has the same stiffness.

You must have been wondering, who is the first to build multi-storey buildings up to so many multi-storey buildings on the present. The first steeper building has existed in ancient times. Load-bearing wall structure height of 10 floors has been used in the cities of the Roman Empire. Cities in the West is growing very rapidly in the nineteenth century, and the population density causes a return of the high rise buildings that disappeared with the collapse of the Roman Empire.

Principle structure of a retaining wall of stone materials reused. But the limitations of this type of structural system is that with increasing building height, the wall thickness should be increased as well, in direct proportion to the nature of gravity. Limitations of this construction is clearly visible in the Monadnock Building (1891) 16-story Chicago. United States requiring walls 6 feet thick at the bottom.
